AM: I tend to agree. Anywhere you look you can see massive wastes of energy. There is no national leadership on energy policy. Oh, I almost forgot, our energy policy was written behind closed doors by oil industry CEOs. Maybe that explains something.

Cut & pastes.

Soon to be followed by insults aimed at those that may disagree.

Another 5 star thread from Sard.

Politician quite nearly of "statemen" caliber have talked about addressing the energy issue at the national level. Among them was our own Scoop Jackson, the Senator from Boeing, with a reputation for being able to get things done. No politician, nor group of them, has been able to successfully address the national energy issue. Why? The answer I suspect lies in the theme of, "When Corporations Rule the World." An effective national energy policy is not in the best interests of the oil conglomerates. And they have purchased the best government money can buy, and that government does the industry's bidding. Is there any other answer that makes sense?

Not really, but the purchase of government by the big corporations happened so long ago it has taken root and the legislators can't imagine life any other way.

The investment started long ago, the purchase started two presidents ago, and the purchase is now final...there are more top oil execs actually in the Bush Administration than the sum total of all all oil execs in all administrations ever before.

Take those ingredients, mix in a secret energy task force made up of the remaining private sector oil execs, and you have a recipe for absolutely nothing done about national energy policy...except for war in the Middle East.

War in the Middle East is our national energy policy.

Fish on...

Re-read my post, Aunty...the oil industry's investment in buying the government started long ago, it's just really paying off now...rather than have a sympathetic ear, they own the ear.

Fish on...
