Just broke in my new Christmas present. Wow is she sensitive. Anyhow, I'm glad lami's have lifetime warranties because while I was fighting a weenie steelie I heard the rod starting to crackle. Sounded kind of like firewood. Landed the fish but I could swear that my rod was about to bust. Here's the question:
Are Lamiglas rods weak? It's sensitive as heck but doesn't seem to have near as much backbone as my cheaper shimano rods.

Thanks
Cuttie

My buddy just bought a Certified Pro 6-10# and is complaining about the crackling sound too. I think it is just the epoxy "breaking in" and it will quit making the sound after some use. as far as the backbone, I use a certified pro 6-10 spinning for 'doggin and I love it, I think it is designed for the slow to medium action. When fishing off the bank I like a rod with more backbone.

I have a 6-10 (10'6") and a 4-10 (9'6"). The largest Ive ever caught on the 10 6 was 16lb winter steel and had no problems. I got my 9 6 last year and broke it in by catching some monster hook noses, 2 of which were in the 20lb range. Never had one problem with the rod then or since. I love that 4-10 9'6" I played them monster cohos, winter and summer brats, and even tossed tiny rooster tails with for resident bows and cuts. Great rod.

i think it's luck of the draw. i've never broke any lamiglas rods on fish, just over my knee. i fish many days a week so they get good usage. try tiring those steelies out more before you hors'em in with light rods. ive seen too many mishaps because of horsing them in. even better, buy rainshadow rods instead.
