Have these fish showed up yet? If so, is there a good bank access spot for taking my 7-yr. old boy to?

Thanks.

The Dogs are in and can be caught in many places on the river. Fishing lower in the river increases the chance of getting fresher fish though. Last week I laucnhed below the Mounts road bridge and ran upriver. There was a tremendous amount of bank pressure, especially the drift above the "Handicap" hole, must have been 80 guys and gals standing shoulder to shoulder on the bar.
Take I-5 to Mounts rd. exit and just follow the road to the river...do some exploring and good luck. Be careful to not go on the Ft. Lewis res. without a range pass and be aware of the Tribes netting schedules. I think its Sunday at noon thru Thursdays.

Take the kids and have fun....don't forget to put PFD's on the kids, cause if they fall in......well, thats not a good thing,

I was down there last weekend. Lots of fish, especially on the incoming tide, and lots of pressure.

Fish were traveling tight to the shore, with many guys casting right over them.

Haven't seen any MP's recently, but I still wouldn't be on the Ft. Lewis side without the range pass that FishNg1 mentioned.

Tribe nets noon Sunday through noon Wednesday I believe.

Good luck

Was there today, both low (Bar above handicap access) and high. It was slow down low, compared to previous days, but didnt stick around for the incoming tide. Went up higher and alot more fish up there, however all were pretty beat up. Didnt see any fresh fish down low either, but they just pulled the nets and its been raining all day, so maybe tommorrow. My 11 yr old caught quite a few so, your kid should have a blast.

Where is the handicapped access and how Do I get there. Is it still tide water or accually in the river flow? How far up is the access river mile wise and also mounts rd bridge? Thanks for the information.

We were on the river last Sunday, Fort Lewis Property and the MP's showed up. If you didn't have a Military pass or a Range Pass, you were asked to leave ASAP. Sure was a lot of room on the bar after they checked for passes. laugh Fished all day and 3 of us took a nice bright fish each.

was there sunday, rained like all get out, some people caught fish, but for the life of me ive never seen so many fish get the booted up on the bank approach, dragged on the rocks, then booted back in the water and then they wonder why it didnt swim away right away would they do this to a king or steelie, i think not, but why not jus treat the chum the same, i would....i fished for maybe 25 mins, got to cold and wet, but i did pick up 80+ corkies, so it wasnt a complete waste of time..

Hey Fish4Fun, I too was there on Sunday, and it was a Beautiiful day to be on the river. I did leave around 2 and it may have rained after that. I ran upriver, but didn't ever run into you and your sled. Were you on the bank or just above me?

FishNg1, we were on the bank way up river from you. Found a few chromer chums too. We were there from daylight till dark, with the nice weather and lots of fish we stayed all day. Not sure about my inboard sled, I think it would be a little big for the Nasty. Couldn't you see the look on peoples faces though eek as we flew up river. laugh I will be back this Sunday for a few more.

The river closes at the end of this month for Salmon. No Steelhead can be kept on this river. As for how clear the river is?? 6" at best, most of the time I think my corkie needs a plow for the mud. laugh
