I am planning a trip for King's this spring. I'm going with my brother-in-law, who's largest fish caught is a 8 lb. pink.
We are going to hire a guide, any suggestion? What is the going $ range, $150?

My uncle and his buddy have went a few times with I think his name is Don Kinsley? They fish the Sol Duc and have done well for springers everytime. I believe he's based in Forks. fishy

Hi Noskunk ... the Columbia tribs will probably give you your best shot at good action. The Hoh will probably give you your biggest fish though. 'Duc has some available as well and the guys in the know do fine in there .. it's a nice place to try for springers w/o a load of traffic as many know that if you don't know what you're doing, odds are slim.

Yes, I do guide on the OP, but I'm usually already up north chasin' springers on the Kasilof before they show in force out this way.

If you decide that you'd like to do a coastal trip, you can give us a call though and we'll get you set up with a couple of local guides that do hang around for the summer smile

Sometimes we can do fine in late April and I'll do some on-call trips myself for them if the fish show in decent numbers early, but we can't count on that so whatever remaining days I have open I'll usually call guys when they're in.

Normally, it's mid to late May in the 'Duc and a tad later for Hoh fish. It's not a time where guys are normally booked solid, so you can usually get a date a few weeks out if you're flexible smile

Good luck wherever you head off to!
