Try to keep your trip flexible until the last possible moment and leave when you are sure there will be an open window of fishable water at your intended destination. Nothing would suck worse than towing your boat 1000 miles only to be Pineapple Expressed right off the river.

Ever been to the Olympic Peninsula? Not exactly a tourist mecca but if the rivers are in shape you are sure to have an enjoyable trip.

So Many Rivers, so little time!
Hatchery runs are weak. Wait for awhile. Maybe March for Catch and Release of Natives.
Try H2O's favorite, the Hoh! He loves company wink :p wink

You don't have to go THAT far.

In Oregon, try the Rogue, the Sandy, or most Tillamook-area Rivers (e.g. Wilson, etc..).

There are summer steel available in the Upper Willamette and John Day rivers.

I'm not sure when you are planning your trip, but the Santiam River is one of my favs.

HTH and may Nerka cuddle your line!

Shoot, you'll be driving by the Umpqua, the Rogue, and the MacKensie to get here. I'd stop there. Santiam is good, Clackamas is good, the Kalama is nice, the Lewis, The Wilson.

Those should keep you busy for a while.
