Sorry TH.. I must have looked at the expensive rods first and jumped to conclusions. Maybe it was the new colors on the web site that screwed me up.. frown Anyway. Forget I posted.

What price hike? Maybe I'm missing something. I'm not in the market for any rods because my wife tells me 4 rods and reels are enough. I bought a 1264, spinning rod, a year ago Christmas for $165. This year it is listed at $163. Nice rod. IThe only problem is that I had to have three of the lower rod guides (single attachment) replaced with guides with the double attachment because they got loose.

I also have a Cabelas C44X a few years ago for the same price. Never have had problems with the guides (single attachment) because they are attached better. Also have used the Cabelas XML. But now you can only get 7 1/2 foot Cabelas XML rods or step down to a Fish Eagle II.

You might want to compare to Lamiglas Certified Pro too and see if you can get it on sale.

I can't see myself spending $300 on a G-Loomis.

Are you kidding me? eek It's can all be blamed on Bush. laugh It's the economy my friend. With all the tax breaks there is more money to spend on Fishing rods. This is called economic stimulation. confused It all balances out in the end. rolleyes And by the way, a lot of people think that TH has a better product that the rest. cool

Neurosis, compare TH prices to a custom built Loomis and you will find a big diference. Most of Loomis's blanks cost what a Custom built Rainshadow complete rod does from TH. I build both for myself and like both brands real well but even at what TH is asking the Rainshadows are a great deal for a quality rod. Just my .02

Not sure where this is going Neurosis? you tried this on the other boards as well?
Like I said on the other boards.. blank prices go up every year.. we had to adjust our prices on some of the rods to stay ahead. We didn't last year and felt we had to this year.

Go price a Loomis or Lamiglas or Rogue.. and then remember what you are getting.

Thanks for the support guys! We still strongly feel they are still the best value on the market!

Neurosis,
I don't see where you're coming from?
The rod I had built last year went up in price by 3 dollars. Do you think TH should wrap their rods for free?

It sounds like you're upset cause you can't afford a TH rod. It looks like you should spend less time b!tching about their prices and find a better job. rolleyes

Neurosis here's a link to a rod that's not as expensive as a TH.
http://www.piscatorialpursuits.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=001775

The second rod I'm going to have TH build for me is only $12 more than last year. Not too much of an increase to keep me from buying one...

Neurosis - I know of another local company that builds rods using Rainshadow blanks - check out the prices at Northwest Custom Rods .
