has anyone been gettin fish in elliot bay moochin? i no people are gettin fish trolling. any other ways of gettin fish without riggers. thanks!

The results from last Sundays Tengu Derby were pretty dismal. I think the moochers went 0 for 50 something. Not real good.

This weekend should be better. Better weather and a small tide change in the morning.

I grew up mooching PD, think I was about 7 when I landed my first salmon (lotsa dogfish before that) - that was 45 years ago - and I stuck with it for years, mostly out of dogma, but 'rigging beats mooching 10 to one for me, and with today's low numbers of fish out there you'd be far better off getting a couple 'riggers and getting with it. <img border="0" alt="[Goldfish]" title="" src="graemlins/goldfish.gif" />

If you can't troll effectively where the BM are, which is hard to do with mooching gear down deep, then try using jigs. Use Buzz Bomb types shallow in light current and dart types (my favorite, esp for BM) down deep in heavier current. Them BM like action on bait. The one thing they want almost as much as what another fish is chasing (hence the effectiveness for flasher and lure combo) is a falling bait. These greedy little buggers can't resist either. The trollers have an edge though because they are covering more ground. When you find BM, jigs are equally effective or more so. Good luck. And don't give up your mooching job either.
