I have shopped cabelas and have been very happy. I decided to sample a smaller wanabe outfit last winter and got ignored the whole season. My credit card was charged right away but after that I was forgotten. Because of this II will not deal with small wanabees.Sorry but being lied to over and over to leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I build houses for a living and one thng keeps me employed...word of mouth!!!I do a good job and take pride in my buisness and the people I build a house for take care of my advertisement.I have gotten more buisness from these referals than I will ever get out of an advertisement.Remember this as you are starting your buisness.I do buisness with you and and tell my friends how great you are or I tell my friends how terrible you are.Its that simple!!

well along with the in state sales tax you have to consider the shipping charge all the time. some sites have free shipping and some are really expensive, most tackle is pretty light so the shipping sometimes double the cost of what you order, i believe there are enough chooses out there all ready.

I always consider the shipping when I mail order... In fact one of the places that gets most of my mail order business gives free shipping for orders over $100. I have yet to order less than a 100 bucks worth... No sales tax and free shipping... just another idea to consider

On-line purchasing, it's HERE but I don't think it is a positive trend the way it is working now. I think the real question we need to ask ourselves as the internet supposedly is revolutionizing the way we do business is. What about your community? I don't give a damn about Walmart or any of the box stores that come into our community and put locals out of business. What I do care about is the local businesses, mom and pops, families, young people trying to live , thrive, invest and provide services to you and I (in our community). Box stores and the Inet suck money out of communities (especially rural communities). Do they invest in kids sports programs? do they support local fishing clubs? do they support the local 4-H or senior citizens orgs.? The answer to this is VERY SELDOM. You and I are a big contributer to the demise of the local economy when we purchase on-line and from the big box stores. WE ***** about state governement not doing enough about supporting business in WA and then we buy our stuff from Walmart or Cabellas. Kind of hypocritical. The small margin of difference in local owned business prices vs Inet and boxes is really irrelevant when you look at supporting the local economy. One of the reasons a lot of locals have had to raise prices is people are willing to drive 40 miles to save $5. We as Americans are so consumed with low price that it gets in they way of our values and supporting our neighbors. anyway I could go on but I really think we need to think globally and buy locally. Support your local tackle stores, groceries, restraunts etc., support local economy and make your community a better place to live.

Hey Steve,
I backtracked your order for the worms and sent a note off to Joe. Since I don't work for Vision, I couldn't tell you either way what happened. I just do the web stuff and see all the orders/emails that come in.
I'm guessing the worms you ordered are out of stock, but I don't know that for sure. I do know that Joe is having a hard time getting in new worms, as he's having some problems with his supplier. My guess is you can either wait for a new batch of worms to come in (how long that will be I don't know), request some different tackle in exchange, or ask for your money back.
Like I said, it's all speculation. I've emailed Joe about it and he'll get a hold of you.

I've been pondering about buying gear online but I always like to see what I'm buying. So I guess that buying on line for me is out of the question. They can show you a picture of what your getting but that doesn't mean that is what you are going to get.

Hey Finneyrock, I would like to point out that I am a local business, located in Washington, paying Washington taxes and supporting my local school, etc. However, I sell worldwide, 95% of my sales are outside the state, and 99% are over the internet. What I am doing is bringing money into the state. Now, I do buy a lot of stuff on-line, but not land, cars, boats, appliances, gasoline, utilities, home improvement stuff, things too heavy to ship, etc. Most of my money is spent right here. Some of you mentioned shipping. The nearest place that I can get anything resembling the tackle I need is at Sportco, 142 mile round trip from Satsop. Even in my 20 mpg van, at $1.35 per gallon, costs me dang near 10 bucks in gas alone, let alone wear and tear, etc, and 3 hours driving time. I can get any reasonably sized box of tackle shipped to me for $7 or less. $100 plus orders I can get shipped free. Shipping is cheaper than driving there. You want security in buying on-line, go to eBay. Either bid on items - can get a hell of a deal that way - or shop eBay Stores. eBay sellers have to comply with eBay policies or get their @ss booted out, which means no scams, no delays, full money back guarantee on everything, and every sale is fully insured by eBay if someone does rip you off. Costs to the customer are no more than anywhere else, and prices are usually reduced - I know I list items for between $10 and $50 less than retail at auction, just to get the bidding going, so if you watch auctions you can get great deals. I'm not an eBay employee, nor are they paying me to say any of this, I have just plain figured out that this is a real good deal for people with specialty products like mine. I have the world as a marketplace, I have no overhead for a storefront operation, and I can drastically cut my prices to match cuts in overhead and because of a large market share advantage. I can make you a better deal and so can lots of sellers on there. I guess the advantage to me if everyone starts using eBay more is that maybe they will hold the line on the auction fees that I have to pay

I agree with Spawnout. I have been buying and selling over the Internet for more than 5 years with absolutely no problem --(hope by saying that, it's not a jinx ) 1. Buy online only from co's that give you full contact info. Make sure their site is professional looking, uses secure credit card processing, and most importantly, their guarantee/return policy. Also remember that your credit card carrier protects you from any fraud. Realistically, there is no more risk than givng your card to a waiter at a restaurant. 2. Watch shipping/handling charges - BUT as mentioned above, consider your cost/time for going out to purchase in person AND the the convenience factor. How many times have you gone to a tackle store looking for a specific product only to find it sold out then traveled all over everywhere trying to find it somewhere else? Dont mean to put down tackle stores at all. I still give lots of biz to my local guy, support the local economy etc, but sometimes buying online is safe, easy and convenient. Finally, while he mentions Ebay as a good place to shop, (and I agree), there are many other places to find quality merchandise over the web also. Dont limit yourself to one source. My experienced $0.02.

I agree totally with supporting your local tackle shops. if anything the internet is making them rethink there pricing. I know a few that used to gouge you pretty hard on the finer things in life. but i think most of us are smart shoppers and shop both locally and compare whats available on the net, we have some of the best shops here in our state for salmon and steelhead gear, and geared toward those species is there money makers, not many people buying catfish dough at walmart either. as far as ebay goes, i buy almost all my reels from a couple of power sellers that are hard to beat anywhere, and priced the same always. i have been buying abu garcia c4 for 50 bucks for two years from this guy and not had a problem (Gilberts PayLake) . check him out. so goes get your corkies at your local store, but shop for the big tickets where you can find the best deal. just my two pence. good god i have got to go fishing today, i am starting to sound like some others on this page.
