I had my Steelhead-Salmon tackle box stolen the past week. Taken right out of my garage! Pisses me off!! mad mad
Anyway, I'm slowly getting use to the fact it is gone (did a police report)- approx. $600-700 worth the gear.
Any suggestions where I may be able to have a new tackle box with the basics already put together or will I simply need to replace the plugs, etc. over time?

I see a lot of basic takle combo's on eBay quite frequently. Although the majority is used, the tackle seems to be in great shape.. Might save a few buck to boot.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last year, except stolen out of my car. 3 poles, and a box with about $300 worth of gear in it. I got it back by posting reward signs around the neighborhood. The kid that brought it back either stole it himself or 'found it while walking his dog'. Take your pick. I did manage to get everything back, and that's what's important, even though it did cost me $100.

Mcsteely, you might want to check out the sportsman show at the fairgrounds inPuyallup. I was there wednesday, and there was a guy selling all manner of used, well equipped tackle boxes for steelies and salmon. All appeared to be in good shape with a variety of colors, styles, etc. He must have had at least ten or so with him, and said he had lots more at home. CHEAP!

Just a thought

If it was taken right out of your garage wouldn't that be covered by your home owners policy?

Give me a call. I don't have much time to fish anymore and have a a nice nylon tackle box with plastic inserts fully loaded with everything you'd need to fish Salmon and Steelhead from the bank or from a drift boat. Plugs, baitdivers, spinners, corkys, worms, lead, pliers, you name it, I got it. If a decent offer is made, I'll sell. Kyle - 425.485.4375.

Your home owners insurance should indeed cover it.. And I can't imagine many things that would be more fun than taking your check down to the " MEGA what ever outdoor shop" and filling a cart with 600-700 bucks of tackle. Then you get to go home and sort it all out and arrange it all perfect etc etc etc.. I guess one of the down sides is the fact that you probably lost some items that can't be replaced?? This has happened to me before, but out of my boat in the driveway.

I feel your pain I had a big plano and 6 rod and fish finder taken from my bass boat years ago when I fished tournys. I would get so flustrated for awhile after it happened due to I would see a perfect laydown or dock etc. and want to throw my favorite crank bait near it but, I hadent replaced that bait yet. The good news is you know longer well have them junk baits or gimmick baits that sat in the bottem collecting dust. Also check with your insurance company (home owners)they gave me about 700$ of the 1500$ I figure was stolen...good luck in your rebuilding and dont let it get you down....its a Karma thing hope the thief goes fishless and snags himself in the doodads...DJ

Thanks to all who responded to my post.....I'm getting use to it as each day passes. You guys have been somewhat like a therapy session to me... :p
However, I have learned not to trust anyone and to keep my gear in a safer place and hidden.
My insurance deduct was above what I lost- maybe next time I will know better and double the total loss of gear! Kidding of course- I have found a possible solution to starting over- It is just a real pain in the ass to rebuild and as of late remind myself that I "Oh, I can't go cause I'm missing my gear"!
Also my predictament is very minor compared to what alot of people deal with in regards to cancer, etc.
