Got my W2 yesterday, so sat down before work to do my taxes online. I was unemployed for the first 7 1/2 months of the year, and opted not to have taxes taken out, because I would have had nothing left over after paying rent. I eventually had to move out of my apartment, and got a job in July. So bottom line is, I appear to owe the IRS $363... I had extra taken out after I became employed, and was expecting not to get anything, and probably owe some, but wasn't expecting it to be this bad. Considering having a professional do them and seeing if I miscalculated somewhere...

You may want to consider the Turbo-Tax program for 2002 first. The accuracy and simplicity of this long standing program is excellent. Do your homework on it -i don't think you'll be dissapointed. You can purchase it at most large office supply stores or find it online. -VERY user friendly......( I too have been unemployed during the past year.....) Good luck!

Make sure that you ask prices ahead of time. I had mine done last night at HR Block. Same issues as last year. I paid $130 more this year than last. Every form went up in price.
