At the sports show Puyallup, they were pushing Owner hooks for salmon fishing. Any comments pro or con about this product. Which is your favorite for bait, spoons, plugs and trolling.

I've used Owner cutting points on mooching leaders and really like their ability to drill through just about anything. Here's my best example: fishing for kings on the bottom in 400 feet of water (the only time I've done this) near PA some years back. I get a bite, reel down (and reel down and reel down) and set the hook. The Owner hook cut through the jaw hinge on the king I landed. The hook wasn't behind the hinge; it went through that tough little flap of hard tissue. To me, that says a lot about the quality of the cutting point hook.

Thay are by far the best hooks I've ever used. They are spendy but so is evereything else. Give them a shot.

I love the Owner Cutting Point hooks. They will hook and hold a Salmon as good or better as any of the quality hooks on the market. I buy the best quality hook that's available and Owner Cutting point gets my money. Diachii and Gammy are next in that order. I purchase mine in bulk, which saves in the long run. <img border="0" alt="[Goldfish]" title="" src="graemlins/goldfish.gif" />

How do you sharpen an Owner hook? They have that funky cutting point.

How do you sharpen an Owner hook? They have that funky cutting point. You don't. You take a second mortgage on your house, buy them in bulk, and tie on a new one when the old one is dull. Just kidding of course! Owner's are great hooks. Buying cheap hooks to me just doesn't make a lot of sense. You've spent hundreds of dollars on a Loomis rod and Shimano reel, so why skimp on the part that attatches to the fish? On that note, (drum roll please) we now ask you to prepare yourselves for the flood of Vision hook testimonials! :p Visions are good too!

I am a big fan of using small hooks. Usually a single 2 or double 4 set up. I have been able to get Visions for cheap and I really like the size 4 but to me the size 2 has a narrower gap. Is it just me? I've tried the Owner as well and trust me it works well. Just wish Vision would make the gap on their size 2 are little bigger. Anyone else with the same problem???

I'm using more hooks from Vision, the last few months. I noticed the hooks run a size smaller, than the Gami's I used to use. I e-mailed Vision, and they confirmed it. I gotta remember that when I buy more hooks.

Vision now offers a nickel plated octopus hook. Great hook for the salt. Not availabe on the e-store, though. Check your local tackle store.
Oh and yes, if you compare Vision to Gammy's, the Visions will be one size smaller.
I believe the Visions follow the Mustad sizing of hooks. Gammy just changed the size standard (at least locally). That was my impression from Joe, any ways.
