Has anyone used this spinning reel? If so, how does it perform. Looking into possibly buying one as a backup for my dad. They are on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse fo $32. I think it is a 4740 and will hold 200 yards of 10 pound test. Seems to have some nice features including 6-7 ball bearings. My other options are a 4000 shimano sidestab or a shakespeare Catera. Any thoughts would be appreciated. All three reels are inexpensive and I wanted to stay under $40 for a back up rell. Thanks in advance.

i bought a plueger trion for my trout tool this last summer, 7 bearings, i think it holds 100 yards of 8# , very smooth retrieve, sturdy, dependable, and long lasting, the pleuger for that price would be a great deal, go with the pleuger

Loc: Kennewick,
Thanks for the info. Picked up one for my dad and myself. I do have an Okuma Epixor that I have only used 7-8 times and it seems to work fine on my spinning reel for bobber fishing. How does the Okuma rate vs the Phlueger? Who makes Phlueger? Sure seems like a great reel for the price. Thanks again.

Pfluegers used to be a quite a reputable reel and rod manufacturer, but like many other industries they have most of their manufacturing done overseas. However, the Trion spinning reels are very good stuff, receiving a Best Buy rating by the Outdoor magazine not too long ago. The reel is made in Korea. Real good value in my opinion.

Very tight and smooth. The only thing I didn't like is if you get a rats nest it's hard to get to to untangle.
