After a month or so of prospecting in my new boat, we picked up a NICE chrome native hen in the Sky yesterday. Upper teens. Still no blood in the boat, but got some fish slime and a scale or two!!

That is a beautiful fish.
I sure hope you were careful how you handled it. That net on the floor of your boat and that big dog sitting there have me a little concerned for that fish.

Bouncing wild fish around the bottom of a boat isn't fine.

If the fish was handled carefully then I am sorry for my comments. Too often I see guys net wild fish drag them in the boat, let them flop around until they "settle down", then take a picture and release them. Maybe I am reading too much into this post, maybe I am over sensative. The net on the floor and the scales and slime comment set of the alarm.

No sheet to that. That is the number 1 reason I don't post pictures. Seems lately that alot of people have chips on their shoulder. Might have alot to do with the lousy hatchery returns. <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" />

Thats what its all about! Good job... I can see why Vic is concerned though, ive also witnessed guys one too many times netting Nates and hearing them flop around in the bottom...makes me cringe

Just want to clarify my position, because the internet is an imperfect form of communication.
I enjoy catching wild steelhead as much as anyone here. It wasn't my intention to sound like I have a chip on my shoulder, or criticize, merely to bring up propper handling of these fish, that are so precious to me.
In my opinion a wild steelhead has no business in a boat, on or on a sandy beach. That is all I was trying to say.

Onchorynchus, Congrats, that is nice. Got one about 10# and nice and shiny, like yours, today myself. Bout time the natives come in. Hope there are plenty coming. Don't let it bother you, when somone chews on ya for posting a nice fish. I'm sure there are enough here that do appreciate seeing nice fish. I know I sure do. Catarafter
