Just wish dad had doen more sturgeon fishing so we could have used more for bait rather than eating them :p

Thanks for the post, my dad is going down tomorrow, he'll be glad hd didn't make the tip for nothing. he heard the weight limit was going to be increased, do you know if that happened?

They are yummy fried and also great smoked. I like smelt better than almost any other fish. The only trick is to have fresh fish, a good breading and a hot frying pan. I can eat a dozen at one sitting. Smoked they are awesome. Try it - you'll like it.

Hmmm, always willing to try something new. Do you have to clean them or just eat em whole? Also, how long does the run last?

I prefer to clean them. the run kinda goes like this , they get here when they want and they leave when they are done.

nobody really knows when they will arive or when the run will be over, but if i had to guess i would say about a week or two is all the longer the run should last

We used to smoke them whole, just cut the heads off first, fins and tail. They were too small to clean real easy, kinda' like eatin' smelt jerky! They were really good, man that brings back some memories....

Smoking em sounds good. Do you bother brining them or can you just toss them in the smoker as is?
