Don't know, what are you targeting with the eggs? If you are curin some up for the upcoming springer run, most of the experts think that a "chem" cure is the way to go, for salmon. Try any of the store boughts such as pro cure, or try Amerman's. Ive heard good things of Amerman's but have never tried personally.
If you are targeting more steel, Id say keep it simple, such as the 3 2 1 borax cure (3 parts borax 2 parts salt 1 part sugar. If you want color add jello or use the pre-colored borax that pro cure makes. Ive used this cure the last two trips with success.
I would also suggest picking up the new egg cure book by Scott Haugen (sp?) . They have it at sportco and is worth the $10

IMHO eggs are too much work for Steelhead. I have found in most conditions Steelhead will strike a corky, yarn and shrimp oil just as well. wink

Save the eggs for Salmon where they are really needed.

With that said I have used Amerman's Salmon egg cure and I think it is a great cure for Salmon. They milk out fast, only get about 3 casts so it is allot more work.

Amerman's Steelhead cure I do not like. I have only used this a limited number of times but in my opinion they milk out to fast for Steelhead fishing. 1-2 casts and they are toast in average Steelhead holding water.

I've been a cherry jello/borax guy forever but have recently started using siberian egg cure and have had great success with it. Especially noticeable has been what appears to be a more aggressive bite with the siberian cure. The eggs hold their color well too. I fish it with more confidence than the big name cures and I've tried em' all.

I'm amazed more guys don't use it. I seldom see others with it.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I paid 24 bones plus shipping for a jar of amerman steelhead eggs and you are right they look good but are very soft and dont last more than 4-5 casts. I poured borax on mine and let them hang dry four 24 hours in acold garage and that seemed to help a little.

I've had tremendous success lately with the pro cure wizard stuff. When the eggs are drying I liberally sprinkle sugar on the eggs. Maybe it's just luck but I've never caught so many steelies on eggs as I have this year. keep it simple.
