We face what is possibly the biggest crisis concerning our fisheries in both states. Increased pressure on limited amounts of fish, loss of wild fish habitat,decreased funding for salmon recovery and the presence of gillnets on streams throughout the region. What are you doing about it? Are you making your opinions known to your representitives? I was real impressed by the action that Bob organized last year to put a stop to the slaughter of salmon in low water by gill netters. A group of several hundred sportmen and women showed up in Salem, Oregon last week to testify before lawmakers about the the future of their salmon and steelhead fishing on the north Oregon coast. There are groups like WSC that are advocates for the wild steelhead runs that are a precious resource in the region!
It's one thing to write flowery prose about what should be done and then do nothing! It's another thing to get involved!
