My friend Blair and I fished West Pt. this morning. It only took us 45 minutes and we were headed back to the launch with our limits. In addition to the two keepers we also caught four shakers. Blairs fish weighed six pounds and mine was five pounds.

Damn I knew we should have headed in that direction today! We opted to fish Jeff Head and Edmonds and got skunked cry for the whole weekend, first time in a log time.
Glad to hear you caught fish!

Did you get them south of the bouy?

Easy, You must of already been gone by the time I got back over to the East side.
I fished Manchester and Blake Island with only a couple of shakers. Oh, that's right! I also caught a nice crab pot and rope on my DR ball.
Need to replace the float for it was water logged.
Got over to 4 mile Rock about 11:oo and put 1 8lber in the boat. Man I love those Coyote spoons.

We caught all of our fish today straight out from 4 Mile Rock. We did not scrape the bottom either. The fish were suspended today. We were fishing 100' down in 120-140' of water.

I got my fish in 78' of water and my gear set at 70'. Ya just never know. It's funny how it seems I'm never marking fish on the screen when I get bites. confused They must be drawn in from outside the FF cone.

Looks like Sunday was better than Saturday.
Started the morning out at 4 mile rock. Worked it for about 2 hours after tide change. We got into about 10 shakers there with my buddy mearsuring a 21 3/4. We headed over around the corner down South by the marina, saw fishslayer out there and it looked like he was doing well. We ended our day there with 5 more shakers. No keepers, but all it matters that we were on the water laugh .

Have a question: Does anyone know about a wreck / container out by mile rock? Earlier in the morning we were trolling about 90 ft and lost my Hot Spot and Spoon frown . Looked on the depth finder and looked like a boat down there. Lucky by downrigger didn't get caught. Had rust marks all over it and scuffed up the rubber coating on it. And you think we would of learned after loosing my gear the first time. On the second pass my buddy lost his gear.

Well if you do not know about it watch out for it. If you're headed NE out from 4 mile rock in a angle its about 150 / 200 yards out.

Fish On,

ErnDog

We had a great day Saturday. Caught a couple dozen shakers/flounder, and then landed a 25" keeper at about 4:30. Also got to watch a bald eagle kick the crap out of a seagull. Drowned him, pummelled him and left him floating with a broken back and half a beak. Wildest thing I ever saw, wish I had my video camera.

Met Erndog at the ramp putting out-great to meet you! Also cruised by EasyLimits, good to finally meet you too, Carl. That sure is a purdy motor on the back of that boat! laugh

We have had a great time, we think we got it figured out now, been trying different leader lengths/hoochies and foil skirts, think we finally may have it now that we landed a keeper. You really see how big a container ship is 30' away in a 19' Bayliner! Makes you feel like you are standing in a bucket.

Hope to meet some more of you maybe this Saturday. Helped another guy get his truck up the ramp, but don't know if he posts on here or not. He took a little dunk hooking the boat up and didn't have 4x, so needed some weight on the back tires to get up the ramp. Nothing like a couple of fat guys on the bumper to get some traction! If he reads this, great to meet you too, glad to be of help.

Keep it up guys, amazing how many people live in Seattle and how few people are out fishing. sleep sleep sleep

Steve, good job. Good to meet you also. Hope to meet up with you again. Are you going to fish the 23rd? Looks like Sky-Guy doing a great job putting it together.

Fish On,

Erndog...
I am not sure about the rock you referenced, but from the depth and where I think you were trolling I think you found the Barges. Have not dove them yet so I don't really know what they look like but they have been there since the '80s at least. Might want to keep track of where they are if you do any bottomfishing.....zip......

Hey Erndog, I'm am SERIOUSLY thinking about it! I do have a commitment that morning, but I am really thinking of ditching it and going fishing. All I would have to do is look at my pal Trent and he is there! I need to start making some calls and find someone to cover for me. If I do see you this weekend, point out that container or wreck on the bottom for me, would you? We haven't lost anything yet, but don't have a spare ball or anything. It is also nice to see I am not the only one who turned the family party boat into a fish slayin' machine! With some of the waves those big tugs send out I am glad we're in the Bayliner and not the little SmokerCraft!

See ya' out there!

Erndog-
Wonder if this is the hang-up? If travelling along the 90' contour from the south east going northwest the ground comes up fast to 60'?

Steve, good to have crossed paths with you this weekend. Maybe next time we can get close enough to shake hands. beer

I am planning on fishing West Pt. next weekend too.

Unfortunately, the whole fam damily is coming in to town the weekend of the derby so I doubt I will be able to make a showing then, at least not Sunday. frown

That mound sure looks interesting to a bottom bouncer. Hard to fish it I'll bet. One puff of wind and then you're done.

JohnnyDeep mentioned it already, but I found this brief description of the barges Erndog hung up on.

"The West Point Barges are a pair of barges that sank in the same place, but many years apart. Kind of wild, huh? This dive is a boat dive only, and I only know of one charter captain that dives this site."
