Was in the Upper Sol Duc Today, (CnR waters). We found two Chromer Hens, 10 to 12# that had been fillet and released, (Adapose still attached). It was someone that was in a boat because there is no access in this part of the river. They looked fairly new three days or so.

Anyways this is bull ****, If people want to pitch bait and bonk fish they have plenty of river set aside down below.

Whoever did this needs to get ***** slapped.

People will be watching. evil evil evil

Rich - You may be jumping to conclusions here.

It is quite possible that those fish were caught in the personal use area of the lower river and the carcasses were put there purposely to add nutrients to the upper area where steelhead spawn and fry hatch.

Out of concern for the resource I always bleed and gut my fish where I catch them and then, after filleting them at home, return the carcass to the river where it was caught. Whenever possible it will be placed in a tributary or upriver location where fry are likely to find it.

Many of my friends have learned to do the same and I always encourage others to return what they can to the resource.

Why would someone do it in the middle of the run? There is no access within miles of this spot. Fillets are easier to hide than fish.

More patrols by WDFW enforcement have cutt down on the Poachers in the CnR areas but it is still a big problem out here.

We were up on R

Your probably right Rich. It seems unlikely that C&K anglers would be drifting a C&R section.

Poaching can only screw up things for the rest of us including the managers. It's obvious that enforcement and angler ethics are the solution to this problem.

We should all be willing to remind our fellow anglers of the benefits for the fish and our fishing opportunity found through honest adherance to the laws and management objectives.

Unfortunately, the area has a history of this problem.

On the bright side though, WDFW folks are aware of this and are watching much more closely in the C&R areas. I know of one boat nabbed recently in the upper Hoh for poaching there (they were whining at the ramp ... personally I think blatent major offenses should mean NO BOAT).

With improved cell service throughout many of the sections of river, other anglers will have a chance to help keep tabs as well.

Guess these fellas aren't good enough fishermen to legally C & Keep in the areas open to it. slap
