fishing is ok with some fresh fish moving each day. There are some wild fish that have been caught a few times in the mid and upper river. This past week has had a few larger hatchery fish killed (up to 22lbs) . Afternoon fishing is every bit as good as morning fishing. It is just a matter of going. If you know the river at all , you should catch or see fish caught. It is definitly the best it's been all year.

The funny thing is that for the last couple of months, all of the Canadian boards talked about how bad the fishing was on the Vedder. I personally don't even start thinking about fishing it until February. It would appear that the run is indeed on it's "normal" schedule. cool

Anybody been through the border crossing since the latest threat upgrade? How's that been going? Heard you had to have 2 pieces of ID.

fishing on the vedder has started really slow. For most of the "better/avid" local stellheaders , fishing in december can be very good with nobody around. I usually quit fishing the river after jan.15 because word gets out about good fishing and the largest crowds show up. This year has started out slower than recent years and fish have only shown recently in good numbers. Vancouver island is still slow with the stamp system having it's best fishing for winter runs recently and this is at least 6 weeks late.
