...sorry I didn't stop to chat--mind was running a hundred different directions.

drop me a line-- mja@rockisland.com

Does being on the water all day make you less likely to get out on it on your days off? lol

Interesting question....

I have often wonder how much the guides like to go fishing on their day off.

I take almost 6 weeks every fall and fish almost every day smile

This time of year, I used to do more on my days off, but with AK booking going at full swing and the days off rare to begin with, my "days off" are not really days off all the time, lots of things to get caught up on smile

I used to spend three months at a time out to sea comercial fishing.

The rest of the crew could not figure out why all I would think about is getting home and going river fishing. laugh

I spend anywhere from 130-180 days floating around on the big pond... Between those in port periods, I spend at least another 100-120 days fishing the sound. If I have to work over a weekend, I take days off during the week to make up the fishing. (Gotta love the beenies.)

Wife has been bugging me to take a cruise forever- forget it. I'll want to start running things on the bridge... Well, maybe after I retire...

My season up north will run from Memorial day thru Labor day, during that time I will have 4-6 days off, a couple of those days I will rent a rig in Craig and hit the Sarkar river (yeah, I'm giving up my favorite zipper) on Prince of Wales Is. the rest of my days off I'll be doing my home-pack fishing.

Guides in S.E. Ak are not allowed to fish with guests on board unless or until the guests have filled their daily king limit(1 per day/3 for the season, non-res.) Kind of a b.s. law since we are required to have a license and king salmon stamp($200 annual) yet we cannot fish. rolleyes

Downriggin,

So your wife wants to go on a cruise??? Tell her you're going on one and she'll have to wake up early in the morning. You secretly have the boat hitched up, all prepared to go fishing and the truck running. Then you coax her to get her clothes on fast or you'll be late for boarding. Have her go out of the house so she sees the boat and truck ready to go.

Cruel isn't it!

Fish On!
