My original response of "delete this post now" was not intended to be a negative gesture to the fellow that made that post. I have seen how these questions end up and was attempting to stop that from happening. No one deserves such criticism. Please accept my apologies. I would never ridicule someone for asking a simple question. In fact, when I was new on this board I asked some of the same type of questions about rivers that are far less known. Boy did I hear about it..... Steelheader, keep asking questions. Try calling DJ's country market in Bucoda and they'll fill you in on the latest reports. Good luck and keep your head up. You did nothing wrong. Maybe I'll see you down there. wink

Yeah I can never understand why someone would want to jump down someones throat over some info on a river. They are owned by all of us. In this day and age their is nothing that is zipperlip. I lived in southeast king county all my life. We used to fish the skookumchuck 30 years ago . I remember seeing other fisherman back then. We used to drive up the loggin roads then hike down the the river walk across a log to get across the river and catch 20 - 24 inch searun cutts. People should think before they jump on some one. The best advice would be dont post anything if you dont want to tell someone about your zipperlip. I for one dont mind sharing the fun I have and knowledge I have gained to the future of our sport.

I agree with Troller. If the Skookumchuck is a zipper then I am a lot better looking than I think I am!! This is the only river that I know of in the South Sound that is open to steelheading in April. You have to travel down to the Cowlitz/Kalama or up to the N Fork Stilly to find steelheading in April. I dearly remember the first steelhead I ever caught. April 30th on the Skook. This is not a zipper (not sure if there truly are any left in Washington State) and all of the folks that jumped this kid should be ashamed of themselves.

Maybe we can get Ol' Man Hamilton to post the Skook on his bilboard?

It's easy to feel bitter after being "burned" on some spot that you had pretty much to yourself that now harbors a throng of fishers.

That is pretty much the story of my fishing career. When my brother first started taking me to Blue Creek we DROVE to the mouth! I'm still pissed off about you guys (sic) letting that Zipper out of the bag! Or how about fishing anywhere we wanted on a small OP Res. stream and not even seeing other anglers most times! Pains me to even think about it!

No one likes having their places anymore crowded than they already are. It hurts. Realistically there is very little happening these days to encourage the existence of any "Zipperlip" stream in our state.

First you could blame F & H News. Since the NET, things are even tougher. Basically, our problem is too many people, too few productive rivers left to fish. Bitter pill to swallow; ain't never gonna be like it once was!

If you truly don't want the world to see it, don't post it! All these responses were the only thing that got MY attention regarding another river I had vowed not to fish anymore since the past many times I've been there it looked like the crowd there about made up the third largest city in Lewis County.

Add to "Rodney's Quote" ; Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't have the right to do it!

Actually, for the third year in a row, the Stillaguamish system closes March 1st.

I have had my backside handed to me more than once about spots. Yeah it is frustrating... Some folks are quick to the quim!

Share the resource folks! As sportsmen, we need to realize we all in this together... We'll probably be more apt to help fix the deteriorating situation; provide solutions instead of grumping about it.

As far as the kid lying about his age, I certainly understand why. Hell, I felt the same way 25 years ago. Boy did I ever get the, "Go away kid, you're bothering me" routine. I stuck with it... However, honesty should always prevail.

Steelheader,

Young man I admire your courage for even posting! Regardless of the scope, I would encourage you to always ask questions if you need answers. Don't let this experience leave a bad taste because of a few folks. I hope in a few years, you'll be able to answers the questions other post. Pass on what you know to others- teach them. It is one of many responsibilities you have as a Sportsman.

If you and father want to come fish salt with me, by gholly, I'll teach you how to catch Salmon. After all, it would be the right thing to do- pass on what was taught to me.

Good luck in your endeavors. Always keep your chin up!

hi,

I would like to thank all the people that have shown my son support as to posting on this board, in no way was he trying to start a on going topic on the skook, but he was curious as we trout fished it during the summer.

He has reregistered under the name of steelheadfisherkid i believe, and will be using this handle from now on.

Damn, forgot to sign in under my own name (chumster) we use the same computer, oh well. By the way i was born in 69, not him, he was born in 91. thanks again!!!
