I am traveling to AK in mid June and trying to book a fly-out trip for Chinook. The only trip I have found so far is to the Chuit River. Has anyone ever fished this river? Is it crowded or a quality experience? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

Our fly-out service does trips out to the Chuit via helicopter ... it will be far less crowded than fly-outs to locales like Wolverine Creek since the river runs through Native Corp. Land and there's a daily limit on the number of anglers that the Corp. allows on the river.

The trips are a little pricier becasue of the surcharge that the Corp. collects to utilize the land, but it's a nice trip.

The kings won't be terribly large as is the case with most June fish in southcentral, but usually the numbers are good. Just keep your fingers crossed that weather cooperates, unlike some of the fisheries in the region, the Chuit is subject to blowing out due to rains or heavy melt if the weather is unusally warm smile

I fished the Chuit in August two years ago for silvers. There is a lodge operation a little further upriver. There were tons of fish. I hear that the Chinook fishing can be good but the fish won't be in the Kenai class by any means. It is a tiny river. You can cross it easily. We took an air service over and stay in their makeshift cabins for 3 days. Not a high scale operation but you can get by. Good luck

If your willing to fly a little farther and aren't committed to staying in that area.......look up Mission Lodge as they offer some awesome flyouts to the Nushagak river where it is common for EACH angler to hook over 20 kings a day or to the Togiak. Might have to stay for a week......but hey..........that would be fun. Try Alaska Kingfishers also.
