Did anyone else attend the fly fishing show put on by The Fly Fishing Show in Bellevue over the weekend and what did you think?

I was glad to see this show dedicated to fly fishing as it had many of the things I have an interest in, but which don't exhibit at more general outdoors shows.

There were vendors with fly tying materials that you don't ever find in the shops around here.

There were very good presentations and the rooms in which they were presented were large enough to hold everyone comfortably, although they could have used a sound system.

There was a good mix of dealer representatives and retail, but I thought the area could have been a little more spacious.

But I really appreciated the fly tyers that they had outside the main entryway. I found those folks really knowledgable and very helpful.

I hope we can expect this show to return on a yearly basis. From the crowd I saw on Saturday, the show was a great success.

It was a great show...I worked in the shop on Saturday so I didnt get to experience the massive crowds but I did hear about them.

Sunday was much more subdued and very pleasent...it was a good time!

Rumor has it, next year it will run for 3 days. smile

I attended. I liked the casual pace, and the size made it so that I feel like I saw everything. However, I miss the magnitude of the Ed Rice International Exposition. I've got more fly gear than I can use, and I enjoy looking at exhibits of things that are strange or exotic to me - like deep sea fishing gear and the big fish they go for, and safaris to far away places, and taimen fishing in Mongolia, and so forth. The sports shows are about as close as I'm likely to ever get to those kinds of places, so it's fun to fish and hunt vicariously.

I agree with Salmo. The show was ok. I was hoping for much more. It looked as if the vendors were doing good business. But it was just lacking something... I'd give it a 6 out of 10 (I actually enjoyed the puyallup show more - 8 of 10). I felt I had seen everything in a half hour. I hung around just to get more of the atmosphere.
