I'm sitting here re-spooling my reel with Gamakatsu co-polymer line. Never used it before, but won some this weekend I got some 17lb test I am going to use for a mainline on one reel.

Anyone have words for it good or bad?

How about the yellow line color ? Nice and visible above water, is it too bright below water?

Its really nice because of the thin diameter. If your drift fishing you will apreciate the reduced line drag. Ive never tried 17# or the yellow. I like the 12# in the smoke color. Downside is it takes a little getting use to if you are use to mono. Less stretch makes it feel like it breaks all of the sudden and when it does break, it can get all tangled because it is so limp.

Very well behaved on a spinning reel. I use Gama 8 to 12 lb on my spinning reels and the usual 10-12 lb Maxima ultragreen on my casting reels. Gama is limper and thinner so be sure to go up a line strength size (i.e., if you usually use 10lb maxima; use 12 lb Gama) or use lighter gear. My spinning gear is lighter, preferring it for late-summer running when you have to throw such light weights.

you can't go wrong with this line !!

I tried the Gami line and it sucked big time. After having the line fail(abrasion or tensile)many times with the drag set properly, I refuse to use it again. I tried it when it first came out. It Could be improved and is of better quality these days[I hope]. I hook lots of fish and like using a line that I can depend on. I was really wanting the G line to work because of it's thin diameter and casting qualities but I was very dissapointed. Good luck and hope it works for you.

I noticed that this line does not work well with cinch knots. My knots were breaking so I went with the palomar. Makes all the difference. Also if your use to the stretch of mono, it takes some getting use to.

I have been using Gami line since it first came out and have never had a problem with it. I think it's a great line and no line that I've used with the same Dia. even comes close. I fished the Skagit on saturday and landed a 23 lbs 1 ounce native buck on 12 lbs Gami line. No it's not a great feat to land a big fish on 12 lbs line but it's the same leader I used to land multipal steely's on in the hoh two weeks ago. I checked the line after each fish and the line was in great shape so I did not bother tying a new leader. But after that big fish I did. Yes I do have pic's also but the way some guy's act as if there above god when it comes to proper handling of nates is the reason I would not post them on this board. Sorry guys I guess a few bad apples can spoil the bunch!

I use the Gami as a leader and love it. Pretty tough stuff and provides a good feel for the pick up of a steelie.
