This being my first post, I'd like to just say "hi" to everybody. I'm a recent transplant. I've been observing the board for awhile and believe that this site provides great information!!! Thanks!!!

I was wondering if a book exists which details many of Washington's rivers, and specifically, various drifts/hazards, levels of difficulty etc.?

I've seen some posts on various drifts but I'm so new here that I could use a book if anyone has info on it I would much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Twig

I don't know of any specificially designed for anglers ... you can usually find something at whitewater stores though for kayakers.

Remeber though that many of the rgions river's show significant changes from year to year and infor in these books will often not contain updated info about new hazards.

Good luck!

Hey Twig, A big welcome and hello. Your right about a great place to get good info and sound advice. As far as the river atlas question I think previous members have already steered you in the direction of whitewater rafting guides and publications. Now for some advice! It's always a good idea to post and ask before heading out down a piece of water you've never done before ,as I have seen my favorite rivers change coarse drastically in the four years since purchasing my driftboat. Always a wise idea to secure the knowledge of a guide for a day or two, just to learn the ropes on any paticular river. Even if you decide not to take the river on yourself you will normally catch fish and receive local tips and hints. Good luck and welcome aboard.

Thanks for the advice and info to everybody. As you've mentioned, the last thing anybody wants is to sink their boat going down some river that is unknown to them. I've seen a couple of posts on boats being lost on the Hoh and Satsop, and have heard horror stories about the Sol Duc. I'll be sure to post questions and do some more research before I head out.

Thanks again,
Twig
