As I try to better my fish pictures I thought I would post this and ask what kind of cameras and gear you all find to be successfull when on the water?

I have used a Nikon coolpix 950 for the last few years and it has treated me well but does not take to the real damp mist/rain we can have. I often hesitate to take it out and opt for a film camera.

What kind of digital cameras work well for outdoor use? I like not having to scan negatives but most weatherproof designs come in film cameras only. Any tricks to getting around fogged viewfinders and lenses?

Any amateur photographers out there willing to share some tips?

I've used a Canon Powershot S20 and now a Powershot G1 and they work fine. I would recommend the S30 or 45 due to their smaller size and all aluminum casing.

I have a minolta dimage 5, great camera!
But, Im really carefull about the wet weather, I use a dry box to keep it in and pull it out just for a few minutes at a time. Usally I keep it in my hood of my raincoat while shooting, and a dry towell in case it gets wet at all. Of course take it in the house in the evening. I carry a minlota 35mm in case its just too nasty to break out the digi.
I really like the dimage 5 though.
wink Dr.

I use the SONY DSC-S85, just got it three weeks ago. This is one great camera. 4MP, great zoom, carl zeiss lens. The pictures are incredible and it is really small so it can fit right into any pocket.
