I am looking for a second fish finder for my boat. I have a bottomline HR master on my console. I find myself having a hard time seeing it from the back of the boat when I'm trolling. I want to get a second, less expensive finder for the back of the boat. I am looking for something that would work well in the salt, fishing from 0-250 feet. I want something "bare bones", since my other finder does everything.... Any experiences, or advise that will help me find one? Or maybe you have a used one you want to get rid of... let me know.

Thanks.

I have the Garmin 240 Blue which works great...but they make lesser expensive models that would probably suit your needs especially if you are using it to focus on tracking the bottom.

The new Eagle (yes Eagle, wouldn't recommend them before a month ago) 320 DF has all the same features as the Garmin 160 Blue, 500 watts of power, dual freq., speed and temp. as well as the same price ($239), yet the screen is sharper/clearer, similar to the 240 Blue. Garmin hasn't had any competition in this price range till now, soon Humminbird is going to jump in the ring with their Matrix line, probably still won't recommend a Humminbird though.
We have sold more Eagle's lately then Garmin, still waiting on feedback, haven't heard anything good or bad on them, I do know the Garmin's are great units with very few complaints.

Elk,

I am not familiar with the BL models. Maybe they have a splicing kit so you can transfer your FF to the back of the boat when in use.

Or possibly running separate transducer and power. Would be a lot cheaper!

After my warrantee trials with my Eagle, I'd have to recommend any other brand than Eagle/Lowrance. The unit fogged up, and they wouldn't fix it. Long story - buy someting else.
