Kid,

No one seems to be jumping in to help you here and you're probably looking at some shut eye so for what it is worth:

1. It takes alot to blow out the Kalama. I'd be very surprised if it weren't fishable.

2. As far as fish, well it can't be any worse than the brat season and who knows maybe you'll get lucky and find an early springer. Remember, hope "springs" eternal.

3. Like they say, "Your worst day of fishing still beats your best day at work."

So go west, I mean south, young man!

PS. Don't forget to tell us how you did so the rest of us don't waste our very valuble leisure time. laugh

I have not fished it since last sunday. water was a lil too clear but the river is always great for something. all I got was one downstream hatchery fish on a doubled up spoon to get down into the deep joles where they sit when its this low. no springers in as of yet.. (of course coming from seattle, it was incredible to see an actual downstream hatch fish)

You can also call Pritchards at (360) 673-4690. They can at least give you river coinditions but it has been raining hard here in North Vancouver. Good luck.

Drove by the Kalama on the way home from work today. At 3:30 p.m it was real high and muddy
I think it was about high tide so that influenced the river height, but still would be pretty rough fishing I think. Its rained hard all last night and again today so You I doubt its going to get anybetter.
Yesterday I saw 3-4 take out rigs by the campground.Today there were zero. That might be a bit of a clue.
SORRY for the bad news.I know its not what you want to hear.

Call prichards they have the scoop usually. I called this morning and there was 1 foot visablility and more rain to come so take your chances and good luck. If you do go try to fish the beaches close to shore. A jig and float is usually a good place to start unless you are dead set on eggs those work too.
