Well, I did my annual spring time trip with Robbin Rhoades of the Quinault Guide Service . This year, I invited along stlhdr1 and Superfly for a little egg battle. UEC vs. Uncle Joe's eggs. Parker's plan was to just sit back and use whomever's eggs performed the best! laugh JK. Actually, we all had eggies and just used whatever was closest, as they were all good baits! wink

The river was in great shape and the weather wasn't too bad. We had everything from sun, snow, hail, and rain. Nice spring day on the river.

Oh yeah, and we got in to some fish too, even though Superfly and Stlhdr1 didn't get their lazy arses out of bed until 8:00 am!

Many nice chrome fish were caught this day. I think we ended up landing 12 steelhead and 1 socke-em-in-the-eye.

Keith caught some fish....

Parker caught some fish....

Uncle Joe caught some fish...

and even Robbin caught some fish (waiting for Stlhdr1 to send me those photos! wink )

In all, it was a very fun day on the river! Robbin, Superfly and Stlhdr1 are some damn funny guys to fish with! Maybe that's why I keep going back year after year!

laugh

I think I saw that buck up in that hole! Albeit, by the time I saw it, it had a bunch of fungus on it's head and was all nasty! wink

We didn't get squat out of the location in your photo. I know it well. We did hit a few fish just below that, though.

Yeah, I've seen those photos as I do the web work for Robbin. wink

Big fat chromer hens seem to be the norm this year. For some reason, good lookin' bucks are far and few between. The only buck we got was an old colored up spooger...like above! wink

BTW Kid Sauk, I hate to stroke that already inflated ego of yours, but your jigs put the hurt to the fish on Friday. Well, a few of them, any ways! wink Got to break in that new Allstar 1143s!

I would agree-we got a ton of really nice hens! I got a chrome buck the day before-about 10#'s but besides the big nasty that was about it. We worked really hard for the ones we got. There were a ton of fish stacked in that one tail below where I got mine. To bad he did not bite again--pretty good fight actually fight

Really nice fish though. Looks like you guys had a blast. Did you have to do a bunch of searching?

Nice fish, In my opinion the question that begs to be asked is if you were releasing those fish is it proper C&R form to hold them up in the boat over the boat bottom? <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" /> Let the flames begin, but someone had to say it.

Hate to break it to you DH but I don't think that "brace" was going anywhere but the grill. Unclipped Q Tribe hatchery fish I presume.

So, did you eat that chrome "hatchery" hen Parker? wink

Looks like Keith may have released the hen he's holding. (what's this world coming to?) j/k laugh laugh

All kidding aside, how do you tell whether it's a hatchery fish or a wild one when it has an adipose, it's dorsal isn't "stubbed", and the rest of it's fins look perfect? huh

I guess it must be an inherent ability to some, and one that I have yet to develop. cool

You don't. Unless it's painfully obvious, there's no real way to tell if a Quinault fish is wild or not, since most are not clipped.

Like I said, I'm a hypocrite.

I let go all wild steelhead in our WDFW regulated waters, but....

Put me on the Quinault, and I won't lose any sleep at night by taking home a fish for the BBQ, regardless if it has its fins or not.

Besides, the fish I took home was a hatchery fish. Was easy to tell, as the fins were far from perfect and all messed up. Oh, and don't assume I took home any of those pictured fish. Many other fish were caught that I'm not showing. I only show the cool fishies! wink

Damn fine eatin' fish, though! Yum! Yum!
