Hey buddy I saw your post about the Navy.

Being 16 and planning to join the military, I am having slight trouble as to deciding which branch it will be. I decided I'd just ask you a few questions about the Navy, and any answers you can supply will be greatly appreciated.

1.) Do aircraft carriers have downrigger mounts? I know they have some fancy fish finders, but how will that help without getting down there deep enough to hit those fish?

2.) How much "Fishing Only" time are you allotted per day?

3.) Is all your gear supplied for you?

Thank you for your time as you answer these. Anyone else who is able to help, I'll glady read your responses.

Thanks!

Curtis

BBVD,

Well, I can say the Navy has been very good to me... As far as a branch of service, I will be biased .. NAVY!! Honestly, your best bet would be visiting the branch recruiters and see what they offer and choose what you want to do. Trust me... 20 years goes by fast!

Yes we do fish.... and fish a lot. However, a aircraft carrier is not conducive to quality fishing time, but good ports overseas. Generally the smaller the ship, the better.
For instance, 2 years ago I was down in South America for 4 months. We fished every night while the ship was underway. We caught a ton of fish- Barracuda to Sailfish. BBQ'd on the spot....

If your dead serious about doing a hitch, keep in contact and I'll go to the recruiter with you (in uniform) to see about getting you the best deal and no run around.

Sometime you senior year, you'll probably take a ASVAB (test) in school... Score good on this and a whole slew of opportunities will abound.

The Navy is the best decision I ever made!
I imagine those few on the board here will agree with me regardless if they did one tour or retired...

If you have some more questions, feel free to email anytime... I always have time to help someone out.
