I couldn't believe my eyes when I first read this, but it appears to be true. Then came lots of laughter. It reminds me a lot of the garbage that goes on in Wi. Enjoy.

I have fishied the Arkansas river but did it the right way.

Was alot more fun to fish with lures and bait and also caught more fish than the snaggers laugh .

Takes a genius to use a small power winch to fish. mad

The recent discussion about hatchery steelhead having been genetically selected for non-biting characteristics begs the question…

Should snagging zones be established immediately below steelhead hatchery traps with openings only after the egg take quotas have been obtained?

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I'm sure there would be many willing participants and it would serve to help dispose of the excess.

Snaggin can be fun! laugh

Don't kid yourself Plunker. Snagging is tons of fun. I see people really enjoying it on the rivers, during salmon season, all the time. <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" />

you guys should see how creative the poachers are getting here. Every year the DNR, gives a report of all the violations in the rivers. There have been people who have taken tennis court nets from a tennis court and sceined the Salmon in the rivers and proceed to put them in wheel barrels. I know of people shooting them with pellet guns, and a buddy of mine called the DNR on a group of 4 guys that were hitting them with bats then using a pitchfork to get them out of the water. These are the kinds of people who don't care about the enviorment, and don't mind donating a couple thousand yards of dacron along the bank.

I have snagged a few fish in my time. Some times it happens when there are schools and one fish hits and the hook is jerked out of its mouth and another fish gets the point. I don't like snagging and I do as regs say and take the hook out as gentle as possible and don't take the thing out of the water. Sometimes I have just thumbed it and let the line break and start over. Its not legal but it does happen. And the fight sometimes is a blast.

I also fished for cats on the Arkansas River, actually last summer, I fished with set lines such as bank lines, limb lines and trot lines, my dad and I caught a flathead about 40 pounds on the biggest bluegill we could catch, never snagged on purpose any ways.
