When I went up in the Texas Pond area a few years ago the road was bermed out so you needed an atv or motorcycle to get there. I've heard of a few people fishing it but haven't heard any great reports. We were up there poking around on atvs looking for new hunting areas and never did get to the ponds. Don't bother hunting up there either, unless you like reprod.

I fished it years ago but am at the point where I forgot more about it than I remember.

All I remember is it was shallow and didn't have all that many fish in it. Fish were skittish because of it's shallowness.

That's all I remember. This doesn't mean the info on amount of fish is correct, just what I saw (and remember).

Don't worry about it, ErnDog! I know it must be hard to think about the hardship that is getting a quality education, but I did get through it some how! "Book learnin" isn't so bad once you get the hang of it!

OK, to rely to the guy who asked what kind of fish, I've seen salmon in squire and i've caught some pretty nice native steelhead in there. And to relpy to the school question, i goto nether of the schools, i goto pacific which is about 900' feet for Mt. Rainer. I will goto the Mt next year.

Texas Ponds has Eastern Brook trout. As uelf-sustaining population (natural reproduction). They fish can be pretty skittish but some reach decent size.

Ditto on what Smalma said. Last time I fished it I was able to drive right up to part of the pond and launch my pontoon boat. Had to row through some logs to get out to the main part of the pond. There was some other folks soaking bait from shore so there is some shore access as well.
BTW- I think the reason for the inquiries on Squire Creek is that it has been closed to all fishing for as long as I can remember. Tarheels, however have an extended season on all waters from Jan. 1- Dec. 31st:)

Mark,

I haven't been there in 20 years, so I don't know how good the access is now. There are brook trout there, most of them fairly small. But it's interesting fishing among all the fallen logs and debris. Partridge and orange, size 12 and 14, if I recall.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

I think that there is a small problem of trying to access that creek. Lots of private property on the bottom end and not much in the way of access on the upper end.. Have driven the road out of Darrington to the upper part of the creek. But for some unkown reason have not found the creek. By the way it now has a new coat of blacktop for quite a ways up there. <img border="0" alt="[wall]" title="" src="graemlins/wall.gif" />

Luckily my uncle's property is only about 1/2 mile away from the creek. I love to fish this creek and i know that the less people know how to get there the better..... But since im a nice guy try this. Get to Swede heavan road, find were the old train tarcks(that is now a hiking trail) are and follow them north till you get to squirre. I recomend to all who fish it to not keep any fish, the rules may be relaxed but there really arn't that many fish in there anymore.
