Wnna see how regulated to death some things can get if we don't watch out for them in advance?? Look at some of new regs for the Kenai in May and June!

Frankly, I can live just fine with our new Kasilof regs for the first run ... just as long as the percentage of hatchery fish that are clipped is on par with what they predict (about 70% this year we're told). Glad we're gonna be able to use our electrics in the bottom!!

What is the deal? Do they want to rest the fish? Aren't most locals in bed at night?

Nope ... actually the reasoning behind that is to increase harvest opportunity for resident anglers that will now be able to fish the river by themselves for 12 hours a day. slap

Hi Bob,

I did the board of fish in Ketchikan. It has gotton to the point, That if there is a meeting, wether it is a regular cycle or not, You have to be there.
More and more, they are making major decisions on off years. So when you think you are safe, you are not.
Larry Engle will be leaving soon. I think that is bad news. Art Nelson is hard to read. He listens well, but I think he has his mind made up before it goes into committe.

The resident thing is now a big issue and the board listens.

I was a resident for many years in South East Alaska and The funny thing is, you would be amaized at the amount of King salmon that gets used as Halibut bait and crab bait, when the freezers are cleaned out at the begining of the season.

What a bunch of cr_p that rule is about non residents, everyone that comes from out of state pays loads of tourist money to fish spring kings on the Kasilof. The best time to fish the river is at night, cause its not night, its twilight and thats when the fish bite best.
Im upset and pissed, it seems illegal to me.
Bob please Post a e mail address of the right people to contact about this and I will let them know what I think of their rules. Pure and simple cr_p. mad
Time to find another river.

Fish Doctor,

The way I read it is that the 6pm - 6am reg is for the Kenai, not the Kasilof, thank god!

Bob, I noticed that when a King is caught from the Kasilof you must put away your rod.

Do you think it means kill a King?

I'm gonna fish there for at least 5 days this season and I don't really need kill one but I sure don't want to quit fishing if I release one.

I think so freddy. The article also states no removal from water for released fish (always been that way) ... so I don't hink you have to take that one (as some rumor had it you might have had to).

When the offical wording of everything is available, I'll post it smile
