Yeah, I know the name is kind of a misnomer, but I've got my first sonar, and I'd like some tips on using them. I ordered the unit from Cabela's and it hasn't arrived yet, but I have been reading the instruction manual and playing around with the emulator, both of which are available on Eagle's web site. Here's a link to the one I ordered:

Eagle FishMark 320

The features look good, and the price was extremely reasonable for a unit with such high resolution (320X320 pixels). The unit runs $200 for the base version with skimmer transducer, $250 for my portable in a soft duffle bag type case with battery and suction cup transducer. I plan on using it in the local lakes to see what's down there.

Installation is everything. If its not set up right it wont work well. Check Salmonuniversity.com there was a guy at their Port Angeles class that had a bunch of great tips on getting the most out of your finder. I'll look for his name, but I know he was from the North end in Tacoma. He actually installs them and was a Lowrance rep I believe. I'll try and track the name down tomorrow and get back to you.

Thats him! Brad is the owner/operator of Marine Installations in Tacoma. I'm not sure if he is in the phone book or not, but he had lots of good information when I saw him speak. I'm still trying to "tune" my new finder in.
