By relating ethics to the relativity theory I mean each persons ethics are relative to the way they were brought up, the way they like to fish, and what they as an individuals believe is ethical or not ethical. Sure there is an established code of ethics generally designed for the mass but there is a group of out there that would still consider those people unethical if they dont conform to what they believe is ethical.

DANG, I better get off this thing I do believe I am starting to sound like stlhdh20!

I think everybody has there own idea or theory on what is ethical. This leads to most believing that what they are practicing is ethical. I just try to follow the rules set forth in the regs, and error on the fish's side. beer

I had kind of the same thought as the first poster. Most humans are ethical in their own mind. It's our nature to justify our behavior.

This BB is the greatest example of what you said ....Most people are pretty sure their opinion is the correct one. Some feel they are more ethical than others and some feel they are definitely smarter than others. At the end of the day we all practice our own ethical standards and probably do tend to justify them to others but mostly to ourselves.

Despite all of the boats on the river these days I am suddenly hopeful that numerous fish will escape the mentality of most fisherman seeking them.

Nothing is objectively right or wrong. The definition of right or wrong depends on the prevailing view of the particular individual, culture, or history.

Can you imagine if the only setup thrown into the river was a #4 sunrise oakey drifter?
