What do you think works better on steelhead, a glob of salmon eggs or a nice sand shrimp?
what

I've had equal success with both, but prefer shrimp beacuse they're less messy.

What came first? The shrimp or the egg? Do you have to have the shrimp first to lay the egg that hatches into a shrimp, or does the egg have to be first to hatch the shrimp that lays the egg.......

I like shrimp more gooder!

You finally have a saturday off to go fishing, the rivers are actually in decent shape, you spent the evening tying up leaders, made sure there was propane in your mr. heater, packed a lunch, wake up two hours before daylight, spend thirty dollars in gas, brave the wind, rain, and wind to possibly CNR a nice native winter run steelhead, and somehow also worry about a little borax sticking to your fingers! Amazing

Bulldog,

The mess I'd personally be more worried about, would be the mess of explaining to a Snohomish or Skagit county judge why I didn't read my regs, and decided to fish bait on the only open north sound rivers where selective rules are in effect. wink

I voted for eggs, but that's only a pesonal preference. I'm sure they both work equally well. I like eggs because I think they are less hassle to rig up than shrimp, and the shrimp seem way too fragile.

I voted for shrimp because my most productive method of catching steelhead (summer run in particular) is a 1/4oz. jig tipped with a shrimp tail under a float. Killer........

I would have to go with eggs, because eggs have worked the best for me in the past, I can never get sandshrimp to stay on my hook, for more than one cast. Eggs all the way

I vote for shrimp, although I used to use eggs and have caught a lot of fish on them.

Shrimp are effective and I find them a lot easier to use. If you put them on right they should easily outlast eggs for durablilty and staying on the hook.
