I found myself in the same perdiciment last year. I would not take your boat out to the mouth of the wind cause it gets pretty windy and you ARE out on the columbia. You may want to troll at drano but once again on a windy day you may not be able to fish. Best bet is to buy a cheap electric trolling motor or fish from the bank!!
Good Luck

I once tried rowing a driftboat pulling two big plugs and the drag of the plugs wore me out!!!!

If you have a means of propulsion then there is a trolling slot just outside the river mouth that is as good as anywhere in the area. Just go underneath the highway bridge, turn right, then stay about 30 yards off-shore. This area is quite protected and only gets better as the fish move closer to the mouth.

Drano is a crazy place, I think. You need a good motor to make rapid turns when a wind gust puts you at odds with someone else.

this really isnt a place for driftboats, the wind will throw you around, any place that you could fish from a db the bankies got it covered...throw warts or spinners from the bank....

I think the boats do alot better than the bankers and it is dammed tiring flinging those plugs all day. I would go in a boat if at all possible.

Last year the bobbers got good later on (1 May or so) when the fish moved in closer to the river mouth. A nice cozy bobber cove can be found just west of the mouth.
