Is it legal to keep these fish? Are they mostly wild? What techniques to use? Same tackle as for trophy steelies?

Sol Duc opened for retention on March 1. Virtually all fish are of hatchery-origin, most are marked by one sort of fin clip or another these days.

Not a big run by any means, and if you're not in the know, action's usually pretty limited.

Steelie techniques will work, but they're like springers anywhere else that will often go on and off the bite no matter what you're using. Think shrimp wink

is this primarily a boat show or can they be fished from the bank? i'm also assuming that they'll be hunkering down in the deep pools when the river clears out and drops, am i right about that?

Spingers will be taken on a number of offerings, but as I emntioned, I'm partial to shrimp. Think the fastest, deepest, snottiest water you can find! Bankies in the know do fine, just gotta be able to present properly wink

When it comes to Springers, I'm partial to a Pink worm. laugh
But whatever you do, Don't use Shrimp.
This Bob (whoever he is) is obviously an idiot. Probably never caught a fish in his life. beathead
Of course you could always try creamed corn and a Marshmellow. The Pastel ones work best. slap
