Took my son on his first Charter trip yesterday. He did great and had a blast. Caught his first lings (including an undersized) and a bunch of bass. I caught my biggest ling so far.



We also got a few lings 8-10# off the South Jetty and will try to post those when developed.

I may hit the South Jetty again this weekend...

I use to fish for Lings at Morro Bay (California) and the skin and meat would have a distinctive green or blue hue. Do we get the green and blue variations here in Washington? After broiling the blue/green meat would turn completely white with no trace of color. One of the best eating fish around. Rick

I will be headed out to the Sound for lings.

rr thats just what they been eaten there nothing wrong with those greenies i use to work in a seafood plant for 17 years seen alot of those you know whats good is white meat coho only about 6 or 7 hundred lbs cought a year in ak theres no market for them so we would buy them dirt cheap iam talking peenies

RR - The one in the middle was green...if you look real hard you can see a little color in it's mouth.

I have heard that it is due to them eating crab and the calcium in the shells...not sure though..

No, it is actually from the ink in squid that causes the color.... Harmless, and clears with cooking.....
