I am putting togeather a trip to Westport around Father's Day for my dad. I don't think that we will make the salmon opener, but we might. So I was wondering how good the bottom fishing out of Westport is in June.

I think it is pretty much ALWAYS good bottom fishing out there. I fished it last June and it was awesome! I do think the Lings get a bit slower the later you wait, but it should be pretty good in June!

As UM stated above, bottom fishing is generally good out there most of the year. The bigger issue is if the weather will allow you to get out there to fish them. It's not such an issue if you go through a charter but can be dicey in a private boat if the weather is marginal. Beyond that, find a good rockpile and go get em'.
