No...not the dreaded second stage of 'beer nuts'...

The bait, you know oily fish in roe bags?

I always kind of scoffed at the idea of using anything besides roe in roe bag...but since being prompted by a buddy to try them I've started to kind of like them for fishing hatchery springers.

I've been fishing them under a slip float...

Is there an easy way to assemble the baits? I've just been putting a pile in each bag and gathering the top edges, wrapping thread super tight around the excess roe bag and half hitching the thread...

...easy to explain, much harder and more to time consuming to actually do than I'd like. Any hints on assembling baits?

Those little steel sliding sac makers work quite well at pinching the top of the sac so you can get corrrect tension and tie it off easily. Kinda like a second set of hands.

I use good ole Chicken of the Sea - packed in oil and you might want to try a little anise :p . Further you can change the consistency with canola oil.

Finally, a little bird once told me to go to the craft store and buy some glitter to mix in to the bait.

I have never tried this before. Think no more worrying about eggs just stop at Safeway and get a case of Tuna. Sound good

Has anyone ever tried this for Silvers?

Make sure you buy the tuna packed in oil. They also sell tuna packed in water which you dont want.

Another use is to put a can of the tuna in a blender, and liquify it. Usually I add some canola oil to get the right consistency, then add the good ole secret ingredients and it makes a great scent.

Tuna scent on your float used with salmon eggs sometimes makes a great combo!
