Going for the opener Sat. have never been before. Can anyone one suggest a proven bait for that area. I've heard that catfood is best but I've also heard that brand is important. Also anyone know where one might optain mackerale a commercial guy uses that with very good results. Any info would be apreciated

PUSS-N-BOOTS!

Buy it by the case if you find it, it sells out quick this time of year!

Flavor doesn't really matter, it's the texture and oil content that makes it work so well.

Do a quick search. This topic was discussed within the last month or so......and the shrimping queen.....the ******* of shrimping spoke. I would recommend following her advice.

Umrules has it right it must be PUSS AND BOOTS, but it also must be Fishermans Formula, thats the flavour, and it was and still is developed strictly for HC shrimp, my cats hate the stuff and they eat about anything.
By the way do not plan on pulling your boat out of the water between 1000 - 2pm ish as there is a -3.7 tide at 1230 and will make about all ramps unusable. otherwise good luck and have fun, e-mail me if you have more questions.

NEN cool

I have utilized a concoction the past 4 years with considerable success.....take Puss n Boots and buy the pellet bait (they sell these pellets in most marina's in the HC) and you put these in a blender and blend them together (not puree), we stick them in gallon jugs and then take the plastic bait containers (may have to drill a couple of holes in the containers) and dump this stuff into them. It sometimes is a god awful smell, but, it works.
We have had no problem getting limits for a boat of 6-8 people every year. Good luck...

A negative 3.7 at 12:30! That should be some good entertainment at Misery Point! Grab yourself a six pack and a lawn chair, kick back and enjoy the show. You know that somebody in their new 4 wheel drive SUV is going to think they can get their boat out in 4 low. Depending on what time they are stuck you can set the betting odds, will the Tow Truck get there before the tide is back up over the hood!

N.E.N. was right on the money. If you are launching out there on Saturday, don't plan on getting out of the water 'til around 4 or 5.

Here is what will fill your pots with spots.Get a 5 gallon bucket add 6 cans of jack mackerl and 6 cans of puss-n-boot seafood selcet. If you have any fish scraps(bottom or salmon)or old
fish from the freezer grind it up real fine.Mix it
all together add some alaska fish fertilizer. You want it to be semi soupy so you get a good sent trail.Put it in a tall plastic container drill 3/8 inch holes but not too many.Make sure you
place your pots on the top of a ridge. With the
tide this weekend you should do good this method .Last year we got a 5 gallon bucket full in a large pot in just 1 pull.Make sure to weight the pot good with a large tide!!mmm good eating!!!!
