I hit my first summerrun of the year Sunday afternoon by experimenting with something new. I threw jigs with shrimp, eggs, drifted shrimp and spoons but nothing happened. Right before I was about to call it quits I bummed a nightcrawler off some guy, threw half of it on my red chenile jig and had a fish on my second or third cast. Anyone else have luck with this method or did I invent something new?

Cowlitz. It's about the only thing open right now for steelies around my neck of the woods. Best thing is, I hit it in a hole that no one was at. Rare find on the mighty cow.....

Nightcrawlers can work great on jigs for both summer and winter fish, the only problem is keeping the little ones off of them.
