picked up a AV30 off of ebay and was wondering if its a ok reel? if anybody's used it. thanks

Haven't used the Avenger, but have two Epixors and one Fina (also ebay) and they are awesome. Avenger is their low-end model, but I imagine they are good for the $$ also.

I have had the 40 for a year now that I bought for kings in the quillieute system.That rod got stollen out of my suby so I switched it over to my long rod.Only have maybe twenty hours on it this spring.it is heavy compared to the shimano and diawas,but the drag and the smoothness not to mention the antireverse are awsome.The big spool seems to help it cast,alot like my favorite diawas.My only gripe would be that the line likes to hang on the bail when I open it for casting.My buddy has a couple okumas,a model up in his boat and they did the same thing.It might be my style that has been developed over the years wearing out 4 diawa regal z 3500.I think I paid less than thirty at kitsap sports.Nobady around here caries the diawas anymore.

I have several Avengers. I love them. I had an AV40 that saw about a 100 chums before it finally gave in. Darn good reel for the buck!

How can a guy go wrong for the money? Probably not the "best" reel on the market, but it's probably the "best" reel on the market for the price. I have an AV30 and 3 AV20's, and like them both. The only problem that I have had is when I was using the AV20; twice now I have had my line get wrapped around the main shaft under the spool.

Can't quite yet figure why or what makes it do it, other then that, they are great little reels for what they cost. Most likely there is too much clearance between the spool and the reels casing!
