Well now I'm all curious...

Were you going to shoot the coyote with a gun or a camera? I got NO problem either way*. But I assumed that you wouldn't have a firearm on a kayak cuz of corrosion and possible dunkage.

*WA State classifies the coyote as a nusiance animal, which can be shot wherever it is legal to discharge a firearm.

I was going to take a shot with my camera, but it was running too fast to get it in the frame. I had my pistol with me, as I usually do, but it is well cared for, and a short dunking in the salt shouldn't hurt an HK as long as you clean it when you get home.

I only wish I was about 20 yards closer, then I could have really pissed Chappy off. The same pistol has taken 3 coyotes on other outings, and I was in a wildlife recreation area, with a hunting license and Mr. Yote was running along a nice sand berm that would have made for a great backstop.

They might have not liked you shooting it in a wildlife recreation area. But I wouldn't care, to me they are just another dog.

A wildlife recreation area is an area specifically set aside for hunting, fishing and other outdoor pursuits.
