I fished the morning tide change and caught about 10 sand dabs no salmon caught or seen caught by others. Just couldnt keep those sand dabs off the line trolling fast or slow didnt seem to matter. I think the black box was calling them in.

Next time out, try running your BB between .650 and .680. thumbs

Duro,

Here's a good rule of thumb for setting the BB:

Add .01v for every foot past 100' of wire you have out with a start voltage of .600. E.g., 140' of wire = .640v, 210' = .710.

Curious to know the depth of water you were fishing? Generally, when you are picking up Dabs after you've increased speed, it best to head to deeper water. Unless of course you want to keep taking thiose Dabs off the line.
110' seems to be a rough cut off for the Dabs with me.

Also when you are picking up Dabs, it might e a good idea to switch to a Coho Killer or other narrow spoon...

Downriggin,
I was fishing along 120' contour had one pole almost draging bottom and the other pole at 70' both poles picking up dabs. I did move out into deeper water after awile 180' . That helped a little but still caught dabs and afew starry flounder. I think there are alot more dabs and flounder out there this year. But I would rather cathch them than dogfish.

Sand Dabs at 180'? Wow! I think the deepest I ever caught one was 135' or so.

Do you large hooks? Say 5/0 and bigger... I use 5/0 to 7/0 year around... it helps keep them bubbas off the line. If it was earlier in the year, I would suggest shortening the leader. This wouldl make the lure a little harder to catch. Those junk fish aren't as agile as salmon.
