I have to drop my son off in anacortes on july 7th for camp. I will have the day off when Iam done. Is there any good places to beach fish up there and if so for what? Silvers maybe? if any one up that way has a free seat that day in the afternoon let me know. Yes iam trying to pimp a ride or a beach zipper. When youy have as few free days as I do you lose all Resemblance of pride.

Hey there SCT-
I spent last weekend at Guemes Island right off Anacortes, and scouted some salmon water to fish and wasn't too thrilled everything was too shallow, and there are not any big runs of fish through there. If you are into crabbing, it's easy picking. We got our limits Saturday morning wading in knee deep water at low tide on NE Guemes Isle.
If yer up that way I would suggest hitting Deception pass from the beach, or zipping out to the west side of Whidbey to a state park or two.
wink

Good luck to you!

Like the Flies post this is a used to. But the west beach of Guemes Is. was a great place to catch kings off of. I don't think there is any public access any more though. You would have to walk around from Jack's Resort and that is probably not the name any more (NE corner). The water is plenty deep on the west side. BB's, Norse Sildas, Sting Sildas, and Darts were the choice. Like Sky Guy said though those runs are probably gone.

I will pass on what Jerry G. suggested to me.

West Beach has some beach fishing, and it is in area 6, unlike Fort Casey and the rest of the West side of Whidbey Island, which is in area 9 (9 is still closed).

Check the regs, but I think that after July 5th, you can keep clipped coho and chinook that you catch in area 6. I am thinking of giving it a try as well, maybe on Saturday - early.

Bobber and herring would be a good place to start.

Tom,
I would like that, but if I go, I am going to have to go real early and be back fairly early.

I will look for you though, as we may cross paths on my way out.

I don't expect to have much action, but it will be good to just be out fishing!

When in doubt, throw buzz bombs. Ace Hardware in Oak Harbor can help you get set up if you need any gear. I am sure Anacortes has a good shop as well, and may be able to tell you of other productive beaches near town.

Good Luck!
