I was thinking of fishing the bay for the first time this weekend. Are there a few spots where the fish tend to hold or is it pretty obvious by looking at the boat traffic? I will probably be mooching as I don't have the DR installed on my "new" boat yet. Thanks for any advice...

It's pretty obvious by the boat traffic for the most part.

For mooching, set up as close to any of the barges that may be out there, as kings tend to hide under them for a good portion of their time.

I have caught them all along the Alki side clear around to the far side of Todd's, but mostly using the DR..............

They might keep you away from Todd's due to a Navy AOE is there and they like it when you stay 500 feet from the boat. flog

Fishing Elliott Bay is pretty easy. Start your troll as soon as you hit the water from W. Seattle. Troll towards Todds. The magic number on the downrigger is 55 feet. If it is still dark when you are fishing try trolling right on the surface.

The fish I am holding in my avatar was caught right on the surface.

Yea Easy thats a good hole by Todds I have taken my fair share of fish right there too.
But last year I found a couple of new spots in the bay that were away from the crowds.

Thats a good lookn fish there Easy. Well one of my fishn buddies called last night and we're thinking of hitting the other bubble up North. I hit the Elliot opener last year and it was a slow one. Seems its going well up North. Heck who knows, all I know that I will be some where on Sunday morning.

What a wonderful predicament...trying to decide where to fish...

Elliott Bay? Tulalip Bubble? Southworth? Pt. D? Redondo?

I was even thining about dropping a DR at Meadow Point. I sure do like those Sockeye.

I'm just glad the seasons are back in. I never made it down to the CR, so it's been a long spring.
