It is basically all the shoreline that runs south from Mukilteo to the Shipwreck. More or less closer to the Shipwreck though.

It basically encompasses the area along the eastern shore of Puget Sound between the Shipwreck (The boundary of Areas 8-2 and 9, north of Edmonds) and Mukilteo State park. The shoreline is indented, forming somewhat of a small bay, and that's where the "hollow" part got it's name. Come mid-August you'll see more boats in that area than just about anywhere else at any time of year!

Hummmmm

Checking a map. Looks a bit wide open water wise. Maybe just a bit rough for my 13 Whaler.

Can't be that bad.

I have watched guys out there in Kayaks with rod holders and finders reeling them in.

Only been really rough once out of the 20 or so times we have been out there.

SeattleR-

Dont count yourself out, I have seen people out there fishing those pinks in 7 foot dinghys before. We have alot of late-summer calm days in those waters that would suit your boat just fine.

Troll south from the launch at Mukilteo. Stay close to shore and troll right on the surface. You don't need downriggers for humpys.

I fish off of Mukilteo with my 14' boat.

I used to take my john boat out there. Just watch the wind. You will be fine in an 18 ft whaler.

When is "peak season" usually for pinks in humpy hollow? I promised a couple kids from my son's school that I'd take them out salmon fishing and I need to set a tentative date in August. I've never fished for pinks before. Any help narrowing my timing to a specific week (or certain tides if it makes a difference) would be appreciated!

What EL said!

If I had to pick just one weekend though, it would be the one before the Labor Day weekend. smile

Launch in Edmonds if you can. The strap launch there is MUCH more convenient, and even though it costs more, avoiding the nightmare of Mukilteo State Park is definitely worth it!

If you've just got a small cartopper though MSP will work.

Yes, the weekend before Labor Day weekend is THE weekend to fish off of Mukilteo.

Is the sling at Edmonds really 27 bucks this year? I think they are going to lose some customers....
