FYI, about the fraser right now. DFO has closed all fishing, including c&r for sockeye. Thay have left the river open for chinooks, but have asked
(they can't make freshwater tackle reg's in b.c.) that all anglers bottom bouncing/flossing to use leaders shorter that 39" ( 1 meter, good ol' metric canada). If anglers do not comply, they will close the salmon fishery until the summer excess of sockeye arrive. DFO will also not allow sports fishermen to fish this fall from sept.1 to sept.15 for a scheduled chinook and pink salmon fishery in the fraser. This will be the first year in many that we have a chance at catching fall run harrison chinook (they grow big , up to 80lbs) and fish on the peak of the pink salmon migration in early september in the mainstem fraser.

I fish the Fraser, Harrison, and Vedder rivers quite often each fall, but haven't been up this year yet. I was planning an August trip for sockeye and springs in the Fraser, but sounds like any fishing in the Fraser might be closed. confused

Hey Rln, if the Fraser is closed Sept. 1-15, will the Harrison be open at that time? If it is, the short Harrison river(with a single lane launch) will be overwhelmed with anglers, while the mighty Fraser will be vacant. Looks like the BC Fisheries are trying to manage with as much logic as good ole WDF. Hopefully both rivers will be open. fishy
